Writing articles can be a tricky thing to learn. Luckily, it can also be a form of passive income.
How do you write articles?
Good question. It’s a personal search for what works for you. And, it has its own set of lessons.
Try your article on Medium. Choose a topic, do a bit of research, and come up with something that works.
What’s your five top tips for writing articles?
I’m going to call this bit answer-dependent. If you answer your questions correctly, get paid for it. If you don’t, move on to the next thing.
The goal of this section is to answer those questions for me and give you some tips.
Do you have more than one question? Here are some clues to answer the remaining questions.
Note: I’m not advocating that you answer all your questions in an article, it’s just giving some hints as to what works and what doesn’t.
Is it a historical title? This is something you can use to fill in spaces.
Was the author listed? Or, if not, do you have a contact who can help with them?
Where do the names of the authors come from? What’s the topic?
Was the article not written for Medium, or no one else? Find the most compelling title to write it up for Medium. If there are no guidelines, think about including a description in an article for an article on other platforms (such as Medium), a review in a book (I have a great list of free books about writing for Medium), and a rant on Medium.
What’s the point of the article?
Find the connection between your article and your article. Did it tell a story you could tell to someone else, and did you find a creative way to tell it?
